About Tribe of Mannequins:
Introduced to blogging by a friend in 2006, Jetson was a regular reader of online fashion publications and diaries…
Hold up, I can’t do it…I can’t refer to myself in the third-person. It’s so, douche-esque.
Anyway – it wasn’t until early 2010, that I started this blog; Tribe of Mannequins.
The Fashion and Beauty Director at ‘OK! Middle East’ magazine suggested I start a fashion and beauty blog; somewhere for people to come and ask me questions, to start discussions and to inspire others. So I figured; with credentials like hers, how could I possibly argue ;)
Tribe of Mannequins began initially as purely a fashion blog, I was brainstorming names, and firstly I fell on the word ‘Tribe’. I liked it a lot and knew the blog needed to work around that word. That meaning. It stands for the ‘us’; the women and men, the consumers, the readers, the artists.
‘Mannequins’ is what we are really; in the context of fashion, cosmetics, beauty, body art and indeed different cultural ideals of beauty. We are plain canvases waiting to be draped in fashion, sprinkled with cosmetics, doused with creativity. When we think of this idea as a complete whole; it is Tribe of Mannequins.
