Etsy!

I think we all know how highly I think of Etsy….And if you don’t know?
Then this one’s for you:

“I LOVE ETSY!”

I had a few hours, non-stop of looking boggly-eyed at pages and pages of Etsy and eBay goodies and trinkets; wanting to buy everything!…But rationed it down and allowed myself a few goodies :).

I came across these gorgeous Vintage looking – Victorian brooch necklaces – with a twist!
Zombie/skeleton Victorian women!
There were lots of variations, but I went for a simple black backgrounded one with the white skeleton, and a red rose in her hair. This made it kind of Gypsy-ish.

This item is called ‘Miss Skeleton Rococo necklace – IVORY BLACK Lolita Zombie Gothic Cameo – Red Rose – Made in USA Setting’ on Etsy and is handmade by user grigiodesign (Rossana)

My second find from the same seller is something I’ve been looking for, for a while; a slave bracelet. I thought I’d prefer a simple silver chain one, and found one similar but in gold on ASOS.com, but in the end fell for this one on Etsy. It has a hand of Hamsa on it.
Depicting the open right hand, an image recognized and used as a sign of protection in many societies throughout history, the hamsa provides superstitious defense against the evil eye. It is also known as the hand of Fatima, so named to commemorate Muhammad’s daughter Fatima Zahra. Levantine Christians call it the hand of Mary, for the mother of Jesus. Following its incorporation into Jewish tradition via its widespread use in the Islamic world, it was also renamed the hand of Miriam for Miriam, sister of Moses.

So it’s quite apt to have it in Dubai.

The seller who handmade these items, as she does with all of her items, is extremely careful with detailing, and on-time, she’s also extremely friendly and easy to communicate with if there are any special requests you may have.

That same day I was so in the mood for trinket and goody-finding that via eBay I found two reasonable items, some I’d been on the lookout for a while also. I’m not such an impulsive buyer, as a ‘rememberer and a finder’.

McQueen-inspired skull scarf. I had a red one in the UK, and always wanted one again, but hadn’t been able to find a decent one. TopShop had some skull scarves in about three weeks/a month ago, but they were velvet in places, and I wanted a plain cotton one :).

These accessory specs! There are so many in TopShop, River Island and stores of that nature, however they are more ‘Dame Edna’ style now, a bit too swish. So I purchased these on ebay instead from a seller in China :).

Thanks Tessa! I wish it was more consistent! Hah – I spend most of my ‘at home’ time in comfy, not-so-stylish clothes – but that’s what’s snuggly n’ comfy! :)
