No! Three months? / HeadKandy

18 Jul

…Wow! Three months since my last post?! Has it been that long?! Tell me it’s not true!

I have been a bad, bad blogger; and fellow bloggers and internet users, I apologise profusely.

Sometimes, life just, gets in the way of hobbies and interests.

That being said, I have taken up additional hobbies, so it’s still practical uses of my time, and I am currently on a short vacation from work in order to slow down and just, enjoy life…For two weeks! :).

The additional hobbies taken up are…Too much shopping (whoops), private guitar tuition and Arabic lessons.
The Arabic language lessons have yet to start because I am researching suitable tutors etc for my fella and I to study together.
The guitar lessons we do together also, which is a lovely way to spend moments together instead of traveling around the city in traffic!

The other hobby is fitness!

Not so much a ‘hobby’ as a lifestyle, which my fella and I do together also, most of the time, so we still see each other in-between often long work hours at the office, me doing things around the house, which I love…Yes, yes – stereotypical 50′s ‘housewife’…Romanticised picture postcard version, not realistic version.

I think we’ve been members at our new gym for three months now; I strive to go 5 times a week, but it’s so difficult to squeeze that much time in, that on average we seem to be going 3 times a week.
Along with eating clean and healthily, we are reaching personal goals.
I still am yet to have shoulders/biceps like Ciara, but I’m getting there! And my abs are fairly visible!
An added difficulty at times/frustration is lack of protein due to my long-standing vegetarianism.
However, Dubai certainly allows you access to weird and wonderful foodstuff, such as Goji berries etc.

My fella and I bumped into the inspirational Nadine Du Toit (of GloryGirl Fitness Fame, and of who recently competed in the Fitness Universe Pageant in Miami!). We recognised her straight away not only because funnily enough I had come across her Facebook profile the week before, which in turn led me to her website; but because of her sculpted and toned physique.

So, hopefully I am excused for not posting for a while?

I know in my last post I was writing about how I had decided against dying my dark blonde/mousey brown locks chocolate brown.
I still gets desires to dye it though!

And how I had been looking into blonder hair with perhaps sewn in extensions (weave).
I am yet to find a suitable supplier/hairdresser for he weave, however, did get my hair coloured!I went to Salon Ink on Oud Metha Road, it is amazing!

I was worried about getting my hair done somewhere that didn’t really have any experinece colouring/dealing with light/fine hair, only thicker dark hair; however on my arrival, not only was I greeting with wide friendly smiles from the staff and talks of American Idol, but also a small sea of blonde women! “Yes!” I thought to myself, concern now dissipated.
My Eastern European colourist, of who I have completely forgotten her name (apologies!) was wonderful! I even decided to get a hair treatment after the colouring. Even though quite pricey, my hair felt so soft and looked so shiny and healthy for about a month after-wards, amazing.

I am due back to get my roots touched up soon and I’ll get her name then.

I got half-head blonde highlights, however because my hair is so fine, it’s practically most of my hair! On exiting the salon, my fella had pulled up outside to pick me up (such a gent, taking me out for the day for my Birthday) – I looked at my guys face through the windscreen and knew Salon Ink had done a good job! He ust kept saying ‘Wow!! You’re a bombshell!!”. This really boosted my confidence, because I had first thought, as per usual when I colour my hair, or get my teeth whitened that there’s not really any difference; but after a while…Maybe the colour intensifies (?), because it seems to get lighter and it was really blonde! Almost a cross between platinum and ash.

Next time I was online, I surfed straight onto HeadKandy.com, my favourite supplier of clip-in hair extensions and ordered a new set of full clip-ins. Often opting for 12-14″ or 16-18″, I put an order in for 20-22″! I was so excited to have flowing locks again, it’s been a while since I had really long hair, and it’s so fun experimenting with styles.
I always usually order one shade darker than the lightest shade in my hair, or the darkest shade in my hair, it’s like a butterscotch dark Blonde colour and so enables me to blend clip-ins quite well. There’s not much worse than pale blonde platinum extensions with dark blonde hair…Picture Britney Spear’s worse extension pap picture and imagine it with incorrectly coloured/matched extensions…10 times worse isn’t it?

Seemingly though, I mistakenly ordered a shade even darker! And with my newly blondeified hair…Even though the underneath was slightly darker (naturally darker, not dyed dark), the clip-ins stand-out lie a sore thumb…Or sore head!
Trimming them, didn’t make much difference either. You’d think by matching the length exactly to your own hair that it would mask the colour a little more and be more natural to have different tones; as y hair colour has different tones anyway. But nope, didn’t work.
My hair definitely seems slightly darker now, thankfully; it was a little too light for me. Especially because I like to play up dark eye make-up and Kohl liner; and with extremely blonde hair…For an everyday look; it was too much. I felt it was a little too tacky, especially at the office.

The annoying thing was, is that as soon as I had my hair lightened, and I went on HeadKandy.com, they had a whole feature on ‘Bronde’!…I WAS Bronde before I had my hair lightened, “ah pants!” I thought to myself, bad timing, how’d I know my mousey ‘not quite blonde, not quite brown’ locks were going to be fashionable.
So I am definitely going to need to see a professional salon with weave specialists. It’s just not something that I think I’ll be able to source in this country very well.
Nevertheless, for now, clip-ins will suffice. And when I have a side-plait a la: gym attire, it looks really natural.

So I’m looking at 16-18″ Deluxe full head – 160gram, with a full set of 10 wefts.
I made the mistake of ordering: Tanned Blonde (medium warm blonde) previously in a length slightly too long. So this time: St Tropez – Light Warm Blonde, and perhaps a few separate wefts of: California Highlights, for higher up on my head.

      Hi Mary,

You can e-mail the company a picture of your hair and they’ll tell you/suggest which colour is best for you. I like a slightly darker colour clip-in, as it seems more natural.

Your method of explaining all in this article is truly fastidious, all be able to simply be aware of it,
    Thanks a lot.
